Name: Default FT601 USB device

The summary would be I got it wrong this PID is the unconfigured default given in the example source code for the chipset sold by Future Technology Devices International. There is a (free) procedure to request a unique PID from FTDI, and obviously the PID from example source code should not be used for products.

A FT601 chip if unconfigured with a custom PID through software will power up with this as it's default PID. But (under windows) if you change the PID this would invalidate the driver certificate, so a lot of companies will end up shipping unrelated devices with the default PID.

I went to the FTDI website and checked what PID's their chips default to if unconfigured:
https://www.ftdichip.com/Support/Documents/TechnicalNotes/TN_100_USB_VID-PID_Guidelines.pdf
https://ftdichip.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/AN_407-D3xx-.NET-Programmers-Guide.pdf

And then I looked at what is already in usb-ids for these devices:
6001 FT232 Serial (UART) IC
6010 FT2232C/D/H Dual UART/FIFO IC
6011 FT4232H Quad HS USB-UART/FIFO IC
6014 FT232H Single HS USB-UART/FIFO IC
So maybe these would align better with with what is already there.

601f FT601 32-bit FIFO IC
