I'm wondering if this vendor ID should just be left blank name-wise, as it seems possible to me that products under it may well fall into several different brands.

QVS is shipping PS/2->USB adapters with the PCPlay barcode (013ba:0018) chip inside. I have three of these, only one works (identified as 0e8f:0020 "USB to PS/2 Adapter [GreenAsia]"). This appears to be a common problem.

Sanoxy is also shipping PS/2-USB adapters with the same chip (13ba:0018).
lsusb shows the iProduct as just "Barcode Reader". No iManufacturer or iSerial is present.

PS/2 keyboard/mouse adaptors are available from Amazon, with the USB-ID [13BA:0018].
the device identifies as "Barcode Reader", but is actually PS/2 keyboard/mouse adaptor for USB port.
can something be done to distinguish this device from an actual barcode reader using the same ID?
I have this one:

this device is apparently the same thing, as described in the article below:

it seems that this hardware is in quite common use, so it might be worth making some accommodation for it,
so that it could be properly identified as keyboard/mouse, rather than as a barcode scanner.
it probably appears much more often as the former, than the latter.
